I am directed to inform you that the Governor
intends to bring the question of your suspension before the
Executive Council on the following grounds:-
(a). That without the authority or knowledge of the Govern-
-went you have permitted, for a considerable period
preceding toe 19th. ultimo, the Curopean officer in
charge of the Police Station at Cheung Chau to live away
from the Station.
(b). That without the authority or knowledgo of me Govern-
-ment you have permitted, for a considerable period
prior to the 19th. ultivo, 3 out of the 4 Constables
stationed at the said Police Station to live away from
the Station.
(c). That you have taus permitted this Police Station, with the Goverment property therein including the safe and the arma, accoutrements and awwnition of the detachment
of rolice assigned to it, to be left at night under the protection of one Constable only.
(d). That the ausence of the Zuropean Officer in charge, and
3 out of 4 of his Constables, rendered impossible any concerted action by the Police on & sudden alarm by day
or by night.
I am to request you to furnish a statement in writing of the grounds upon much you rely to exculpate yourself
before the 11th. instant.
